GARY BUSEY ON HUNTER S. THOMPSON
My buddy Jeff worships the late Hunter S. Thompson... but he's also fond of the lovably whacked-out-of-his-friggin-skull Gary Busey. I'm pretty sure his head will explode while watching this rambling interview of Gary Busey as he comments on the life, spirit, and writings of the famed Gonzo journalist.

So....he was, or was not wearing a helmet when he crashed? Whaaaat??AL
And, hey, I comment!
GOD BLESS YOU, LADDIE!!!!
Honored to be mentioned in this post.
Yes, this is from a wrenching doc called "Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride" which STARZ aired and which now permanently sits on my TiVO eating up ninety minutes. I can't get rid of it, so it best come out on DVD soon!
Gary actually goes nuts on the interviewer, taunting him before he even sits down, and it becomes SO much more about Gary than it does the film's subject. He's a plane crash. And are you ready for this? NICK NOLTE narrates the movie!!! IS THAT HELPING ANY OF US?!
Dear God, so good.
Oh, and guess who else shows up: Johnny Depp (duh), Benecio Del Toro, Bill Murray, Harry Dean Stanton, Sean Penn, Ed Bradley, Thom Wolfe, George McGovern, William F. Buckley, Gary Hart, and John Cusack.
Badass. Hunter sure knew how to pick his friends.
I now COMPLETELY understand why he doesn't want to wear a helmet. If my one eye blinked 10 times more than the other, if my mind was that clear, and if my hair looked that good, I would not wear a helmet either.
Russ- years ago you showed me a clip of Howard Stern's original TV show. In it they convince Busey he is going to appear as a regular talk show guest but then get him on stage with Howard and the gang dressed as head-wound patients (I remember green goo oozing out of Stern's head and Busey slipping in it). Your mission: can you find it?
