A TOUCHING TRIBUTE TO RICHARD JENI FROM CHRIS ROCK
For those of you who don't know already, comedian Richard Jeni died Saturday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his Hollywood home. Apparently the 49 year-old entertainer was friends with fellow comedian Chris Rock. So when Rock appeared Monday on The Late Show with David Letterman to promote his new movie "I Think I Love My Wife", the host mentioned the tragedy and gave Rock the opportunity to say a few words about his friend. These are those words:
Mind you that Rock taped this show Monday afternoon, just 48 hours after Jeni's body was discovered. And yet Rock chooses to launch into what appears to be some hastily prepared material about his friend's love of modestly priced steak joints, and then conclude with an implied endorsement of his movie from his dead friend.
Classy!

Stern played this clip this morning and I was, like, "okay... so maybe that WAS Rock and Jeni's relationship." I mean, what the hell do I know about it?
Then I paused again.
Comedians can be fucking WEIRD, man. Especially in the face of tragic, sudden, suicidal death. I'm just glad Chris has sufficiently shelved his unfortunate Nat X character.
I heard of his death the morning after on the bob and tom radio show.
If you go to bobandtom.com they do a much better job of showing sympathy.
But they also describe their friendship, and how Jeni wrote for his show, "Everyone hates Chris" and also when Chris hosted the Oscars.
as Max said F**king WEIRD.
